Work Type: Hybrid – 2 days onsite (Monday & Tuesday), 3 days remote

Job Description:

HHSC seeks a highly skilled Software Engineer 3 to support the Social Services Applications team with front-end development and maintenance of UI components for critical state applications. The candidate will work within HHSC’s SOA platform using Agile methodologies and will play a key role in the development of responsive, ADA-compliant Single Page Applications (SPAs).

Responsibilities:

  • Design, enhance, and maintain web-based UI components using Angular (or similar frameworks).

  • Work across SDLC phases from requirement analysis to deployment.

  • Implement front-end authentication, authorization, and caching strategies.

  • Write well-structured HTML5, JavaScript, Typescript, CSS3, and leverage frameworks like Bootstrap, SASS, and NPM.

  • Optimize UI for performance, accessibility, and scalability.

  • Participate in testing, documentation, and technical walk-throughs.

  • Collaborate with backend teams and stakeholders for integrated solutions.

  • Provide application support and resolve production issues efficiently.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8+ years of enterprise-class Front End/UI development (Angular or similar) on J2EE platforms.

  • 8+ years of SDLC participation and hands-on UI experience with auth/caching strategies.

  • Strong programming experience in HTML5, JavaScript, Typescript, CSS3, JSON, XML, JQuery, AJAX, etc.

  • Proven track record with SPAs, ADA-compliance, and testable modular components.

  • Strong grasp of performance tuning, scalable web UI design, and test-driven development.

Preferred Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience with Spring Boot, IBM WebSphere, Agile (Scrum), CI/CD, Cloud platforms, or mobile/tablet web apps.
