Pay: Dependent on Licensing and Experience

• Full License: $28.90 – $38.89/hour.
• Limited License: $26.68 – $35.91/hour.

Shift Type: Days
Shift Times: Monday–Thursday 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM; Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Evening hours may be required based on program needs)
Weekend Requirements: As required
On-Call Requirements: As required

Role Overview:

The Adult Behavioral Health (ABH) Therapist is responsible for maintaining a caseload of clients with primary mental health and/or co-occurring substance use diagnoses. The therapist conducts intake assessments, maintains case records timely, completes authorizations with funding sources, and provides treatment services based on medical necessity. Typical caseload is around 50 active clients.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Participate in the delivery of clinical services, including intake evaluations and direct treatment for adults and families.
• Assess and document client needs for outpatient mental health and/or co-occurring substance abuse services using Person-Centered Planning principles.
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, school personnel, and other family service or support providers.
• Meet contractual requirements of funding sources and maintain State licensure.
• Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, and case consultations.
• Complete clinical records and agency documentation in a timely manner consistent with policies.
• Follow a professional code of ethics.
• Coordinate effective discharge planning prior to case closure.
• Complete 24 hours of training in the treatment of adults with mental health and/or co-occurring substance use disorders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel:

• Mileage reimbursement when personal vehicle is used at IRS standard rate ($0.64/mile).
• Any required training is paid.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
• Possess corresponding State of Michigan licensure (LLMSW, LLPC, TLLP, LMSW, LPC, or LLP).
• Obtain Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) credential within 120 days of hire.
• Minimum of 1 year experience treating or working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness (including fieldwork or internships).
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, or schedule form.
• Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations.
• Ability to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships using various treatment modalities.
• Willingness to collaborate with other staff and providers and maintain flexibility.

Additional License Requirements:

• LLMSW, LLPC, TLLP, LMSW, LPC, or LLP.
