Position Title: Peace Officer
Salary Information:
2025: $65, 374.40 - *$90,043.20 max for lateral transfers with 5 years of experience
2026: $68,640.00 - *$94,536.00 max for lateral transfers with 5 years of experience
The City of Lancaster Police Department is building an eligibility list for the position of Peace Officer. Candidates will be required to complete the following to move forward in the hiring process:
NTN's Frontline National Exam
Public Safety Self Assessment (PSSA, accessed through your candidate account)
Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ, accessed through your candidate account)
Typing Test (accessed through your candidate account)
All testing must be completed no later than Thursday, July 5, 2025.
To schedule a test, visit NTN's website. Under Find Jobs, select Law Enforcement Jobs and sign up for the City of Lancaster Peace Officer posting.
The testing window will be open between June 5, 2025 - July 5, 2025.
a) An examination fee of $65 is due to NTN at the time of registration. Applicants who have previously tested with NTN within the past 12 months may pay $15 to NTN to have their results sent to the City of Lancaster.
b) Any individual with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to compete effectively on this examination should go to the NTN FAQ's page to read Candidate FAQ #16 about what NTN requires from the individual taking one of its tests who is requesting an accommodation.

EXTRA CREDIT: The following adjustments shall be made to the scores of applicants on condition that they pass the entry-level examination at 70% or above:
Candidates who have a valid Ohio Peace Officer Training certification, or other state's equivalent will receive additional credit of 30%. Applicant must submit a photocopy of a valid Peace Officer's Certificate at the time of filing.
5% additional credit will be granted to Out-of-State Police Officers with the same conditions as above applying.
10% additional credit will be granted for a job related bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Applicant must attach a copy of diploma or transcript.
Any person who has completed service in the uniformed services, who has been honorably discharged from the uniformed services or transferred to the reserve with evidence of satisfactory service, and who is a resident of this state and any member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States, including the Ohio national guard, who has completed more than one hundred eighty days of active duty service pursuant to an executive order of the president of the United States or an act of the congress of the United States may file with their application a certificate of service or honorable discharge, and, upon this filing, the person shall receive additional credit of 20%.A person who receives an additional credit under this section shall not receive an additional credit under (5) below
A member in good standing of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States, including the Ohio National Guard, who successfully completes the member's initial entry-level training, shall receive additional credit of 15%.
To receive the military extra credit, applicants must submit a copy of certificate of honorable discharge or a copy of form DD214 at the time of filing application.
The total amount of credit that may be accumulated may not exceed 40%
Benefit Information: Benefits include medical insurance at a cost of $350.86/month for family coverage and $128.78/month for single coverage, dental insurance at a cost of $15.60/month for family coverage and $7.80/month for single coverage, life insurance at no cost equal to $50,000 per employee and $2,000 per employee spouse and child, and 40 hours of personal leave.
