About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Patient Financial Advocate to join a leading healthcare organization in the Robbinsdale, MN area. This role plays a critical part in supporting patients by guiding them through financial processes related to their care. You will work in a dynamic clinical environment, ensuring patients understand their insurance benefits, coverage levels, and available financial assistance programs.
Job Description As a Patient Financial Advocate, you will:
- Conduct thorough financial screenings for patients.
- Serve as the primary resource for patient education on insurance benefits, coverage, billing, and collections.
- Ensure accounts are cleared for billing and obtain insurance authorizations for services.
- Secure payment arrangements, including collecting co-payments and coinsurance prior to discharge or major outpatient services.
- Identify alternative payment sources, assist with Financial Assistance programs, and initiate Medical Assistance applications.
- Provide accurate cost estimates to patients.
Qualifications Required: - Schedule: Saturday and Sunday Nights & 3 additional shifts Monday–Friday (may include evening starts); 40-hour guarantee; every weekend required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience in roles such as Patient Financial Advocate, Patient Registration, or Patient Accounting.
- Strong customer service skills with experience in front-end patient financial interactions.
- Advanced knowledge of insurance processes, including government assistance programs.
- Experience using Epic.
- Ability to communicate effectively with insurance carriers for service authorizations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with tact and diplomacy.
Preferred: - Bachelor’s degree.
- Multilingual skills (Spanish or Hmong).
