ABOUT US Spokane Community College, Rural Education Division seeks qualified candidates for consideration of employment in this adjunct faculty position in English Composition and Literature. We seek applicants with a record of excellence in teaching, a commitment to the students and mission of the community college to northern, rural counties and expertise in composition/rhetoric and composition pedagogy. We are specifically looking for an instructor to teach English Composition I (ENGL& 101) and English Composition II (ENGL& 102). Other classes may be available in future quarters. First review of applicants will take place on the week of August 4th. Classes begin on September 17th for fall quarter of 2025. This unique opportunity provides the right candidate the benefits and challenges associated with teaching in a small, close-knit community, while still offering support from and relationships with peers and resource centers at the larger SCC main campus. SCC's Colville Center is about 72 miles north of Spokane and is socioeconomically and culturally diverse. While these classes serve the Colville community primarily, they are also available to students in our Newport, Inchelium, and Republic centers. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the district to sponsor an H1-B visa. Benefits Information
Adjunct faculty must work two (2) consecutive quarters at 50% or more of full-time academic load in order to qualify for benefits (based on instructional hours only). Once determined to be eligible, benefits begin on the first day of the month following the beginning of the quarter. Medical, dental, life and long term disability insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board; TIAA-Cref retirement plan or WA State Retirement Plan; leave accruals and usage are governed by the faculty master contract.
