Job Description

Find your next chapter at Ashley

Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday–Thursday, 1:00 PM–11:30 PM

You clock in as the second shift comes alive. Conveyors hum, robots take their positions, and your team gathers for a quick stand-up. You align priorities, scan KPIs for the automated lines, and head to the floor to put hands on the machines. When a change order triggers an unexpected behavior on a PLC-controlled cell, you dive in—trace the root cause, collaborate with IT, and validate the fix. By night’s end, code enhancements are queued for UAT, SOPs are updated, and your specialists are clear on tomorrow’s plan.

What you’ll take on

  • Own day-to-day performance of automated machinery—partnering with management to ensure throughput, safety, cost, and quality goals are met.
  • Physically interact with automation/robotics to verify proper operation and recover faults.
  • Troubleshoot systemic and operational issues resulting from change orders and enhancements; identify root causes and collaborate with IT to resolve.
  • Work with distribution and fulfillment leadership to define and track KPIs for automated processes.
  • Champion CI initiatives that raise productivity and safety while reducing cost and waste across operations.
  • Develop and maintain departmental SOPs; coordinate training and communicate updates.
  • Partner with distribution center training teams to create, update, and deploy materials; audit completion via the established training validation system.
  • Extract and analyze system data to surface issues or necessary enhancements; craft recommendations and implementation plans.
  • Coordinate with internal and external test resources to validate new code; recommend modifications to ensure successful launches.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), log defects, and provide clear feedback to stakeholders.
  • Make and/or recommend employment decisions (hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments).
  • Direct, coordinate, and audit team workflows to ensure SOP adherence and goal attainment.
  • Coach and mentor employees; conduct performance reviews and guide skill development.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping and absentee records; manage resources (equipment, facilities, people, methods, materials) for optimal output.
  • Communicate goals, progress, and opportunities via weekly team huddles and regular 1:1s; foster growth through coaching, training, and company learning.
  • Model Ashley’s Core and Growth Values in every decision and interaction.

  • 4+ years of leadership experience.

  • Strong electrical/mechanical aptitude and solid math skills.
  • Hands-on ability to fabricate parts or assemble machines with hand tools.
  • Proficient with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.); capable of English and Metric measurements.

  • Team-first communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, multitasking environment with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively; analytical, confidential, and solutions-focused.
